Darth Vader has appeared in a quirky ad for NTT Docomo’s launch of the Samsung Galaxy S I9000. I’m sure there’s some kind of logic for this pairing, but it’s completely lost in translation. Still, I can only applaud any reference to Sith Lords, Dark Sides, and any other ancillary dorkery in the wireless world.
The Samsung Galaxy S I9000 launched in Canada and Europe with a 4-inch WVGA Super AMOLED display, running Android 2.1 on a 1 GHz Hummingbird processor, and hosting a 5 megapixel camera plus secondary camera for video conferencing.
Ads on the other side of the Pacific are never hurting in colourfulness – just take a look at these Android ones from SK Telecom. It’s too bad that the real die-hard Star Wars fans in Japan who would be really into this commercial can’t get that special edition Droid 2.
In any case, here’s the cartoon, and if there are any Japanese speakers in the house, feel free to enlighten us about the pitch at the end for the Galaxy S on Docomo.
