Nokia Beta Labs launched a new application for the geek community – Nokia Connectivity Analyzer. Before you go “it’s not just for geeks,” let me assure you that an average mobile phone user doesn’t check the status of his or her network connection. At least that’s the way I see it – and I’m definitely a geek. 🙂
The application provides three kinds of utilities to diagnose and analyze WLAN and Packet Data connections:
- Connectivity Diagnostics Test – which connects to a selected access point and performs a diagnostics test. If a problem is found, user is informed about it with troubleshooting tips.
- Connection Observer – graphical presentation of WLAN and packet data connectivity and events related to it to help true geeks analyze WLAN networks and how roaming is performed (i.e. when using VoIP). The gathered data can be exported into a .csv file for further analysis.
- Ping Utility – for performing ICMP-Echo ping tests to a given hostname or IP address.
If you find yourself in the group that just must have this app installed on his or her Nokia smartphone, hop over to this page and take it from there…
