Samsung is showing off its next-generation LCD-TFT displays and the Super PLS technology promises brighter pictures and better viewing angles.
The Samsung Super PLS (Plane to Lane Switching) screens are supposed to offer 10 times the viewing angles of IPS displays and a whopping 100 times the viewing angle. These types of screens are also supposed to be capable of WXGA resolutions.
The Samsung Super PLS will begin production in early 2011 but it’s too soon to tell when this will roll out to actual devices. The company is targeting these displays for smartphones and tablets, so it shouldn’t be too long before our gadgets have these beautiful screens.
The move comes as the display space is getting crowded. LG just announced that it will be working on QLED screens which could be brighter, cheaper and more flexible than what is currently on the market. The LG products will also take some time to hit the market but the future is looking quite bright.
