We’ve been seeing impressive LTE speed tests as of late, and while that will change once hoards of users are on board, it’s still tantalizing nonetheless. So when word of an LTE-equipped MiFi modem from Samsung getting cleared by the FCC hit, we got pretty excited. The idea of having all that speed on the go and the ability to connect a few users has always been an enticing one, and for those who haven’t picked up WiMax mobile hotspots from Sprint or Clearwire yet may want to consider LTE.
According to PhoneScoop:
The FCC calls the Samsung LC11 a “Cellular/PCS CDMA and 700 MHz LTE Portable Wireless Router with WLAN.” The terminology and spectrum support suggests that the LC11 device will be similar in form and function to Novatel’s MiFi device.
While neither Samsung nor Verizon have announced this particular device just yet – the carrier being the most likely provider given its new LTE network – one would imagine that it will be made official very soon. Or at least that’s the hope. Make it a sub-$50 device – given the cost of the data plans – and I think it could be a winner.
