Regardless of what you may think about the Nexus S, it’s apparently still coming to a Best Buy near you this Thursday. Best Buy has recently come out and given the world more details about the impending launch of the latest Android superphone, and they go something like this:
- To coincide with the East coast stores, Best Buy will begin selling the Nexus S at 8 AM EST online. If you’re in California, be ready to try to get at this thing by 5AM PST, or you may be getting comfy with a nice, fat “sold out” notification online. Or you could just wait until it’s 8 AM wherever you are and walk into a Best Buy to get the phone in person.
- Don’t think you’ll be able to grab one of these things for your entire family, as there is a strict limit of 2 handsets per customer. Handsets will be sold on a first come, first served basis, so Best Buy won’t be playing favorites. If you’re planning to get brownie points by dressing head to toe in the Android robot costume you had custom-made for you this past Halloween, we advise against it.
- Of course, there will be a demo unit at every store for those of you who haven’t heard about the phone.
- There are three ways to grab a Nexus S: New contract, add a line, and off contract. A Nexus S on a new two-year contract with T-Mobile will set you back $199, add a line activations will run $249.99, and you’ll have to shell out $529 for an off-contract Nexus S.
If you have yet to, be sure to check out our hardware and software tour of the Nexus S. Google and Samsung have apparently been working rather hard on this thing and it’s one impressive device. Never mind that the Nexus S feels like a Galaxy S without a micro SD card slot and doesn’t record in HD, this beast runs stock Android (Gingerbread), and has an NFC chip inside.
So, who’s ready to nab one, come Thursday?
