HTC HD7

Occasional gamer is the creator of the Windows Phone game, Impossible Shoota, a classic arcade-style flying shooter. Available in the Windows Marketplace, the game has been downloaded over 26,000. Analysis of the download statistics reveal that HTC, not Samsung as previously rumored, may occupy the top slot for Windows Phone handsets. Over 56% of the game’s downloads came from HTC, a figure that puts the Taiwanese manufacturer in first place. Samsung comes in second with 33%, while LG pulls into third with 11%. Asus and Dell are both at 0% because neither manufacturer has a handset on the market. The highly anticipated Dell Venue Pro has been delayed and will not debut until January 2011 and a handset from Asus has not yet materialized.

Breaking it down even further, the stats show that the HTC HD7 (26%) was the most popular device, followed closely by the Samsung Focus (23%). The HTC Mozart (11%) and the Omnia 7 (10%) were the last two devices to break double figures. These figures are not at all surprising – on paper, the HD7 and the Focus are two of the top Windows Phone handsets.

The HD7 is the king of Windows Phone with a 4.3 inch capacitive display and a kickstand for landscape usage. The Focus is slightly smaller than the HD7 with a 4-inch display. Though smaller, the Focus includes an AMOLED display that is stunning. Both handsets have the standard 1GHz processor, 720P HD video recording, and 8 or 16GB internal storage, but the displays are what set them apart from their competition.
