One of the salient features of Windows Phone 7 is its integration with Zune. Similar to iTunes for iOS and the Mac, the Zune software lets you transfer music, videos, and photos to and from your Windows Phone PC. It is also a marketplace for purchasing music and videos which can be transferred to your Windows Phone.
This Zune integration poses a problem for Mac users as Microsoft does not have a Mac version of its Zune syncing software. In lieu of re-packaging the Zune software for OS X, Microsoft released specialized connector software that will take care of your basic syncing needs. The Mac connector was made available shortly after the Windows launch and enabled syncing for those handful of users that have a Windows Phone handset with a Mac.
While the connector was useful for moving content to and from your Windows Phone handset, it was limited in several ways. One of the biggest limitations was the lack of sync support for purchased content. Thankfully, Microsoft issued an update to the sync software today and that limitation has been removed.
The updated version includes several new features and some needed improvements and fixes. Windows Phone users with a Mac can use the auto-update feature to install this latest version. The full list of changes is included on the next page.
