LG launched two handsets today according to Unwired View, the A155 and the A120. The first is a dual SIM capable device with a 2 inch screen, and while it doesn’t have 3G, it’ll cost you less than $100. The type of people who buy dual SIM handsets are typically those who are looking to save every penny they can, using one phone number for one group of friends, and another for those on another network, so that price tag is perfect. Additional features include Bluetooth, microSD card slot, FM radio, and strangely enough there’s no built in camera. Expect it to be released in Russia, India, and hopefully other territories, during the first quarter of next year.
Then there’s the A120. It only has one SIM card slot, but the $55 price point is easily the most impressive feature. For that amount of coin you get a 1.77 inch screen, dual stereo speakers, FM radio, flashlight, and … that’s it. This handset isn’t meant for those of you who buy the latest super smartphone every 6 months, but do realize that these low cost devices are important to people all around the world who are in a nation that’s most likely going experiencing huge economic growth.
Both the A155 and A120 are handsets that just a few years ago would have fetched double for what they’re going for now. In the future they’re going to get even cheaper, espeically since Huawei recently broke the $150 price tag for an Android smartphone with their Ideos. That thing runs Android 2.2, has a 2.8 inch touch screen, WiFi, GPS, 3G, and just about everything you need to enjoy the internet, but for a price that fits inside most people’s budgets.
If you’re interested in dual SIM phones, be sure to check out the QWERTY enabled Samsung Ch@t and Nokia C2-00, the latter being special because it allows both SIMs to be active at the same time.
