If you’re like me, the Back to the Future Trilogy was well and truly part of your happy childhood. With fond memories of those movies clear as day in your head, chances are you will do anything to make time travel possible… and, if you know your facts about time travel like I do, you’ll also know it’s the flux capacitor that makes time travel possible. Well, it’s time to transform your iPhone 4 into a full-blown flux capacitor, with a little help from an app and a clever decal.

First up is the Flux Capacitor iOS app. With it, you can turn your DeLorean on and off, activate the capacitor, and set the time travel dates you wish to hit up. The graphics and sound effects are all pretty much spot on. If you loved the Back to the Future Trilogy, you’re probably going to love this app. It’s available for the iPad as well, and both iOS versions will run you a cool $0.99. I’m a little saddened that you have to pay for this tiny little app, but that said, it’s quite the niche program, and if you’re into the series in any way, chances are a dollar isn’t going to break your bank.

Second, over the weekend I happened to notice what would be the ‘finishing touch’ on any mobile flux capacitor unit. Once you have the app installed on your iPhone, surely most time travelers would want to grace the facade of their unit with a flux capacitor look, right? The decal you see below does just that. Slap it on to the back of your iPhone 4, and you’re well and truly ready to travel back in time.

So there you have it. We’ve covered off everything you need to turn your iOS-powered device into a full-blown time traveling device. All you need now is your DeLorean, a ‘Mr. Fusion’ unit, and help from Doc Brown to get things underway.
