After its launch has been delayed, Nokia announced that the E7 is coming in early next year. Amazon has started accepting pre-orders but has not revealed the shipment date. However, the online retailer has revealed the price and it’s super steep – $679.
Don’t get me wrong – I love the E7 and have found its keyboard to be one of the best on the market. I also dig the large capacitive touchscreen, but with all the buzz surrounding the iPhone and Android smartphones I can’t easily imagine folks pouring out that amount for a Symbian smartphone. Google’s Nexus S is $150 cheaper and although it comes with no physical keyboard, its guts are almost 40% more powerful than E7’s. I can understand we’re on a verge of comparing apples and oranges, but those additional megahertz gotta count for something. At least they cost more and since the E7 doesn’t have that powerful CPU, I would expect it to be at least slightly cheaper. That would make it more popular and eventually turn some iOS and Android developer towards the Symbian eco-system…
‘nough rant. You can pre-order the Nokia E7 from this page on Amazon.
