I don’t know about you, but I’d rather spend New Year’s Eve with friends or a special loved one than being packed like a sardine in New York City’s Times Square. It’s cold, there are way too many people, and the streets and subways are just jam packed with tourists making an escape nearly impossible if you decide to bail right after the clock strikes 12. However, it doesn’t mean that you won’t be able to watch the festivities wherever you are.
According to Brighthand:
The Times Square Alliance and Countdown Entertainment have teamed up with Toshiba and Livestream to release the Times Square Ball App for both Apple and Android OS devices.
The app, which is free, will feature a live, commercial-free stream of the six-and-a-half-hour-long New Year’s Eve celebration in Times Square. The stream will include not only the ball drop, but other major festivities from the evening as well, such as celebrity appearances and a musical performance from Taio Cruz.
So there you have it. If you want to be part of the action but don’t feel like trudging on in the cold and standing around for six hours, or perhaps you’re hundreds of miles away and wishing for that sort of punishment, you can get a little piece of it with the Times Square app available for iOS and Android.
