Regular readers of IntoMobile will know that I’m a bit of an 8-bit rebel. I grew up with the classics like PAC-MAN and Donkey Kong, which is why whenever I see a classic arcade cabinet hanging around a shop somewhere, I toss in a quarter (or two, or three) and play away. If you’re like me too, and have a soft spot for retro games alongside your love for today’s latest tech… chances are you’re going to love a new product called ‘Joystick-It’ from the good folks at ThinkGeek.
So what does it do?
JOYSTICK-IT allows you to use an actual physical joystick, for those that have grown tired of touch and swipe controls. All you need to do is press the aluminum-milled controller down on the display of your device, and it will suction to your screen. All of a sudden, you have a working joystick attached to your mobile device of choice. While it will certainly work on any of today’s mobile phones, that doesn’t mean its a good fit. The product is rather large, and its best use is reserved for tablet gaming action.
The patent pending design, solid milled-aluminum construction and easy-to-install (and remove, for that matter) nature of this joystick make it a big winner in my books. In fact, I may have to pick one up for occasional use on my iPad. I think I have a NAMCO title or two kicking around on that tablet of mine 🙂
