A Look At Gameloft’s Zelda Inspired Adventure Game

Gameloft is bringing a new game, inspired by The Legend of Zelda, to the iPhone and Android in the near future. I think we all know by now that Gameloft has borrowed many of its influences from big name console games to create their games. The Dungeon Hunter series takes its inspiration from Blizzard’s Diablo series, Shadow Guardian from Naughty Dog’s Uncharted, and the N.O.V.A. series from Bungie’s Halo. There aren’t too many developers that Gameloft has yet to borrow inspiration from, and judging by its latest teaser trailer, it looks like Gameloft will finally deliver a fantasy adventure game inspired by Nintendo’s Zelda.

The trailer Gameloft released doesn’t give too many details regarding the game, not even the mention of its title. Instead, we’re treated to some great looking environments set in a castle covered in snow, the inside of a cave in what looks to be a forest setting, and inside a dungeon where lava flows freely. We do catch a glimpse of the game’s hero, and he borrows many similarities to Link from The Legend of Zelda. The trailer also shows a quick look at the game’s HUD which features a virtual stick on the left side and three buttons to the bottom right for attacking, defending, and calling your horse. A sphere that shows your current weapon leads me to believe you’ll be able to switch your weapons depending on your situation.

If Gameloft did borrow inspiration from Nintendo’s Zelda, let’s just hope they don’t have a fairy following the player, similar to the annoying Navi from Ocarina of Time. I still have nightmares of hearing “Hey!” over and over and over again. I’m hoping the game will have an open world where you can ride your horse from location to location instead of a linear path like most Gameloft games tend to have.

No price, release date, or as I said above, not even a title was given for Gameloft’s upcoming game. But I’m sure we’ll be getting some information on the game real soon.
