After launching its iPad app, PBS is going for the army of iPhone and iPod Touch users. The brand new PBS App features more than 300 hours of free video, including full-length programming from FRONTLINE, PBS Newshour and others. In addition, there are scheduling details, previews and a new tune-in reminder calendar that can be synced with iCal.
The second iOS offering is the Antiques Roadshow App, which is based on the popular television series and designed to “bring out the expert collector and appraiser in every Roadshow fan.” The game features dozens of game challenges that let players collect and store hundreds of virtual antiques based on images of real objects and actual values. Along the way, you will not only appraise items, but also learn their history and value. For those willing to invest some extra effort, there’s a free play mode to scoop up extra rare items for the treasure chest.
The PBS App is available for free, while Antiques Roadshow could be yours for $2.99.
