Alltel just launched the LG Axis, a cheap little Android slider that has a 3.2-inch touchscreen, 3 megapixel camera, 3G, Wi-Fi, GPS, and is going for $89.99 on a two-year contract after rebates. It joins a few other Android handsets on the regional service provider, most notably the HTC Desire.
The LG Axis runs Android 2.1 Eclair, and looks an awful like like the Ally that came out on Verizon last spring. That being said, I’m a little surprised that Alltel didn’t opt for the upgraded Ally that came to Telus; it had a 5 megapixel camera instead, and was built like a tank. My guess is their roaming agreement with Verizon had something to do with it.
All I really know right now is that I could go for a round of Axis and Allies. Hit up the online store if you want to pick up this little slider, or visit LG for a closer look.
