Looking to upgrade your phone and not break the bank? Dell is selling the Nokia E72 for just $190 with free shipping and it even comes with a free car kit! To get it just go to Dell’s Small Business site, search for the E72, add it to you shopping cart, and during the checkout process enter coupon code “D3VR3?F08BQZFV”. The original price for this package is $300 so you’re saving quite a lot of money. Oh and you’ve got until the end of this month to make up your mind. Now the important question: Should you snap this up?
The Nokia E71 was, in my honest opinion, the last great smartphone to come out of Nokia. Sadly, the mobile industry doesn’t sit still for long and a successor was already being worked on. A good friend of mine, who no longer works for Nokia, was actually in the team responsible for the successor, which today we all know as the E72. On paper everything about the E72 is better. It has a newer version of Symbian, an updated 5 megapixel camera, a 3.5 mm headphone jack on the top of the device versus a 2.5 mm socket on the side, and it even had longer battery life due to the use of more a more advanced cellular modem. But then you hold it in your hand and it just feels wrong. The build quality isn’t the same, the design isn’t the same, the keyboard is slightly tweaked, it just didn’t feel as awesome as the E71 did and it’s why I haven’t recommended it to friends and family.
That being said, this is a pretty sweet price. Amazon is selling the older E71 for $180, so if you’d rather have a better overall product, despite the inferior spec sheet, then you’ve got a choice. If you’re currently using a feature phone then either of these smartphones are a wise choice.
