An email sent to PhoneScoop from Verizon Wireless confirms its 4G LTE modems will finally receive Mac support in February. The two modems, one from LTE and one from Pantech, caused a stir when they launched with support only for Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7. During its December LTE launch, Verizon confirmed its modems would receive Mac support in the near future. Over a month later and this update is no where to be found. Thanks to this quick tip from PhoneScoop, we now have a tentative date for this release.
Of course, if you opted to go with the Pantech USB modem, there is a hack floating around that will let you use your modem with your OS X computer. LG VL600 owners will just have to sti tight and wait for Verizon to roll out an update. Speaking of the LG VL600, owners of this 4G USB modem had a bit of false alarm today when they received an unexpected software update. This update contained performance improvements only and nothing else. Hopefully, the next update down the pike will include the necessary drivers to enable full Mac OS X support.
