Samsung might reign king as the smartphone maker with the most Android devices in its portfolio, but that obviously hasn’t stopped HTC from working on their next generation of high-powered Android devices. Take for example, HTC’s upcoming and unannounced flagship, which was recently spotted in a subway. Could this be the HTC Desire 2?
While we have no idea if this is the same device, we’d like to believe that the handset you see above may indeed be the Desire 2. We hope, at least. The only other sighting of the Desire 2 we’ve seen is a mockup/render from a week ago, but the top of the device you see pictured does sport the same long earpiece and what looks to be a front-facing camera. Other than those similarities between the two devices, we got nothin’. They could be two completely different handsets, but wishful thinking makes us hope this is really the Desire 2.
That makes two new HTC handsets that have leaked out into the wild that we know virtually nothing about. What we can deduce from the picture above is that the handset is running HTC Sense, as you can see the web browser’s loading bar, which is a dead give away. But that’s about all she wrote, as we have no word on availability, or even actual existence of the handset.
We liked the look of the Desire 2 since it kept the design aesthetic from the original Desire and Nexus One, and we’d like it very much if this handset hit in the States. Soon.
Whatever this handset turns out to be, there’s one thing to be certain of, and that’s that it will be solid in construction, and sexy as can be in terms of design. What we can’t be certain of is the underlying power in the handset, as HTC just can’t seem to put a dual-core CPU in their devices. Hopefully this, potential new HTC flagship Android device, will sport some dual-core silicon. We’d like to see some more HTC-gold soon, because Motorola and Samsung are stealing the show at the moment.
Your move, HTC.
