While the world has been focused on the elusive white Apple iPhone, Google and Samsung may be poised to release their own white flagship handset. Earlier this week, the folks at Bestboyz snagged some renderings from an unamed source that showed the Samsung Nexus S with a beautiful white coat of paint. Not to be outdone, the team at The Next Web was able to grab a photo of the white flagship Google experience handsetf in the wild.
A rarity in leaked photos, this shot is crystal clear and was reportedly taken by a well-connected industry source. The source hinted that the handset was slated to land at Vodafone which suggests the handset may make its way around Europe and the UK. No word on whether this handset will land in North America, but there is always a thing called eBay that will let buy and sell good overseas.
Though the Nexus S looks slick in white, a pretty paint job wont gloss over what some consider to be a handset with slightly aging technology. With the first crop of dual-core Tegra 2 handsets slated to arrive in the next few months, the Nexus S is looking a bit long in the tooth. The Nexus S shipped with a single-core 1GHz Hummingbird processor that may be snappy but with future handsets pushing the limits with dual-core processors, the Nexus S may be left behind. On the plus side, the Nexus S does run Android Gingerbread 2.3 and is the only shipping device that supports that platform.
