We already knew that Disney was going to release their own Android phone in Japan, and we were surprised to see that the specs on the thing weren’t too bad either. Well, now we have a video of the Disney-themed Android phone showing off the software goods.
If this Disney phone was to hit the US, I know I wouldn’t be getting one, but after watching the video below, I’m pretty surprised how good the UI looks. It’s been reworked from the standard Google mobile operating system look and feel to give the handset more of a Disney-feel, obviously, but the custom-made widgets look pretty damn nice, I’d say. It’s always nice when a decently spec’d phone has good software behind it, as so many good phones have bad user interfaces on them these days.
If you have yet to hear about this device, you’re in for quite a treat. Sporting a 1GHz processor, 3.8-inch display, and a 9.6-megapixel camera, this isn’t some “me too” Android phone. Well, maybe it is, but you can tell that some work actually went into it, and even if we’d never want the thing, it would be fun to get some hands on time with it. Impressive specifications, right? Well, there’s one more thing about that 3.8 inch display you should know about, and that it’s a glasses-free 3D display. Crazy right?
It’ll be interesting to see how this handset sells, because even as a handset that is aiming for kids, I know some adults who would be shameless enough to rock a Disney phone, if it means having a 3D screen on it. Being their first smartphone, if it sells well, this may be the beginning to a whole line of Disney Android phones, but we really wouldn’t be surprised if this was just a one time thing.
Anyone willing to admit that they would get this thing if it was to hit the shelves where you live?
