BlackBerry WebWorks for PlayBook Webcast Series Starts Tomorrow

BlackBerry Developers, listen up. RIM has a new webcast series coming at you real soon, and if you’re interested in developing for the PlayBook, you’ll take note.

The new series is dubbed ‘BlackBerry WebWorks for Tablet OS’, and will take you through everything you’ll need to know about BlackBerry WebWorks for RIM’s new tablet. You’ll learn how to install tools, setup your dev environments, create apps and even how to test them in the simulator. Very cool.

The series is starting up on Tuesday, the WebWorks for Tablet OS webcast series will take place every Tuesday and Thursday, starting THIS Tuesday (Feb. 1) at 2PM EST. The complete schedule and itinerary is below:

Feb. 1, 2011: Getting Started (2:00 PM EST / 11:00 AM PST)

  • Overview of the WebWorks Platform
  • Setting up your Development Environment
  • Building, deploying and testing a “Hello World” application with the PlayBook tablet simulator

Feb. 3, 2011: My First App (2:00 PM EST / 11:00 AM PST)

  • Building functional and visually appealing applications for the PlayBook tablet
  • Migrating content between the BlackBerry platform, Desktop and 3rd party platforms
  • Using the development tools effectively

Feb 8. 2011: PlayBook Integration (2:00 PM EST / 11:00 AM PST)

  • Building “Super Apps” for the PlayBook tablet
  • Hardware, data and services integration methods
  • How to implement “must have” application features

Feb. 10, 2011: User Interface Guidelines and Best Practices (2:00 PM EST / 11:00 AM PST)

  • UI components, characteristics and design for touch screen interfaces
  • Best practices for maximizing performance and battery life considerations
  • Managing bandwidth and error handling effectively
