A recent scan of Vodafone Germany’s inventory has revealed the HTC Desire 2. This is the first time we’ve seen that name, but it could be a European variant of any number of upcoming HTC phones, like the Pyramid, Inspire, or the Saga.
The original was basically a Nexus One with HTC’s personal branding and custom software thrown on top, but now that Samsung has taken up the mantle, it’s unclear how exactly the next Desire will iterate. Maybe a bigger screen, dual-core processor, NFC, updated version of Android, and/or a nicer camera? The Desire HD already covered some of that, so maybe there’s something else altogether that will set this new device apart. I’m also curious to hear which North American carriers, if any, will pick it up.
Based on similarities of style alone, I’m tempted to assume the Saga is the Desire 2, but luckily we won’t have to be left guessing for long; Mobile World Congress is coming soon, where HTC and plenty of other manufacturers will be showing off new hardware.
