Glu Mobile — which these days likes to call itself “publisher of social games” for smartphone and tablet devices — announced support for the Android 3.0 Honeycomb-based platform. Moreover, the company said it is one of the first developers to implement In-App Purchases (IAPs) into its Android games.
Glu’s first “social game” to be released for the platform is Gun Bros, which is pretty popular among the iOS device users and they obviously hope to repeat the success with devices like Motorola Xoom. The Honeycomb version takes advantage of full hardware acceleration, full OpenGL ES 2.0 3D graphics, special effects and improved gameplay — factors that according to Glu make Gun Bros the “most powerful and compelling Glu gaming experience available on any mobile platform.”
At the moment, Glu Mobile has more than 25 games available for Android devices.
Commenting on the news, Glu’s CEO Niccolo de Masi said: “We are inspired by the opportunity to bring the next wave of social mobile gaming to Honeycomb tablets. With the rapid growth of Android-powered devices, Glu is well positioned to benefit from the rise of the Android gamer on a truly global basis.”
