The last we heard, TELUS had let it be known that customers would soon have the option to unlock their devices for a fee. This news hit us late last year, and thankfully, with February upon us, we’re finally getting official word on this one.
The latest from TELUS has the company set to offer an unlock service for $50, starting on February 15th. In order to qualify for the service, you must be a TELUS customer that has a subscription to a monthly plan (post-paid), and have an active and eligible SIM-based device for a minimum of 90 days. Your last three consecutive bills must have been paid in full, and your account must not be delinquent… Translation? Sign a contract with us, pay us for three months (to show us that you’re going to pay our monthly charge with no issues), and THEN we’ll show you how to unlock your new 3-month old device.
TELUS will release easy-to-follow instructions to customers, plus a full list of devices available to be unlocked will also be furnished. Sadly, the following devices will NOT be available for an unlock:
- Samsung Advance A855 and Elevate
- Apple iPhone
- any MiKe handsets launched prior to 2007
So there you have it. TELUS is set to unlock devices on February 15th. Stay tuned for more information as it comes in.
