Last year, Rogers purchased the rights to become the official mobile sponsor of the Vancouver Canucks. Along with that came the naming rights to the arena (Formerly known as General Motors Place, now known as Rogers Centre)… and now, it looks like Rogers is extending their reach by launching a new (and free) Vancouver Canucks app for iPhone and BlackBerry.
The new app delivers pretty much what you’d expect in a ‘fan’ app. Get live scores, videos and breaking news is just the tip of the iceberg. Inside you’ll also get photos from team practices, games, and lots of behind-the-scenes footage. Canucks.com and CanucksTV produced videos are also found inside, including interviews from the lovely Kristin Reid.
One of the cooler features (for my money) is the virtual arena map. I do find myself in ‘Vangroovy’ from time to time, and I know if I was a newbie I’d really appreciate having a map of the premises in-hand. With the interactive map you can easily locate your seat, find that beer vendor (ok, that’s not very hard to do), and much more.
All-in-all, if you’ve got an iPhone or a BlackBerry, and you’re a Canucks fan, this is probably worth the download. You can hit up the appropriate download link below to get started.

Canucks Mobile for BlackBerry (Free) [App World link]
Note: If you’re a real die-hard fan, you can upgrade to the ‘Live’ version of the app for $9.99. With it, you’ll get live Rogers Sportsnet broadcasts of Canucks games for the remainder of the season.
