MEDL Mobile launches MEDL Alliance; Wants to purchase thousands of mobile apps

MEDL Mobile — which we know for their mobile app incubator and developer of a number of apps — used the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco to launch the MEDL Alliance, a program by which MEDL will acquire apps directly from developers while continuing to pay them a portion of the profits generated from the app.

The company hasn’t disclosed just how much money it plans to spend in acquiring iPhone, iPad and Android apps. All we know is that they want to improve functionality and supplement the code to make the apps a part of their growing app network. Aside from monetizing apps via traditional methods such as download fees, in-app purchase and working with top advertising networks, MEDL will also work directly with advertisers to create app sponsorships that will weave a brand’s content into an existing app…

Sounds interesting, especially for smaller developers and publishers, which may struggle to make a living of off their app(s).

For the record, MEDL Mobile has quite a few popular apps of its own, including FishID, Note to Obama, Note to God, Note to Haiti and Mall Maps.
