Telmap, which we know as a white-label location-services provider, announced a new business package for mobile operators, allowing them to bundle local search, mapping and turn by turn navigation into customer subscriptions. Developed in relationship with NAVTEQ, it offers “significant benefits” to both operators and consumers, and we’ve already seen it rolled out by few carriers like Orange, Optus and Vodafone.
Mobile operators who commit to the introduction of location-based services across their entire customer bases will benefit from a “heavily discounted” rate from Telmap for the basic local search, mapping and navigation features, making it viable to include it free to consumers in all their GPS-enabled handsets.
Additionally, Telmap promises new revenue streams that can be generated from premium services such as traffic information, speed cameras, micro payments, fuel prices and city guides. Plus, there are location-based ads that enable local brands to deliver “highly-targeted and actionable” offers to consumers… As usual, more information is available from Telmap’s website.
