If you’re planning a party and have a few iPhones in the group, you may want to consider checking out the Go Game iPhone app, which creates location-based urban adventure games for groups.
We met with the team the other day and found out they’ve been doing mobile gaming events for years with corporations. With these games, you’d see Stan from accounting actually cutting loose and it involved location-based scavenger hunts, creative challenges and even plants that are actors to assist in the real-world game.
The Go Game iPhone app lets you bring those types of location-based gaming to smaller parties like a birthday celebration or a bachelor party (there’s an NC17 mode for those who want it). You build these games by going to the company’s site and it costs about $50 per game.
While that may seem like a lot at first, you have to remember that the game can include multiple people and you only need one iPhone per team. For a group, $50 is actually not that expensive when you consider that anything else will cost much more (have you been to the movies lately?).
Once you have the Go Game iPhone app, you’ll be able to select the city and neighborhood you want and customize the game for your mission. This can include trivia, special locations around the city. The Go Game iPhone app utilizes the camera for certain challenges too and you’ll be able to brag about your wins with the Facebook integration.
Here’s a quick video of how it works. We’re working on our own version where I make quite a fool of myself (spoiler alert: there is arm wrestling involved).
