Sony Ericsson will be pre-installing Canal+ mobile application to its Xperia Arc and Xperia Neo Android smartphones sold in France. As a result, users who grab one of the two phones will see a Canal+ icon on their phones’ homescreens from where they will be able to get free mobile TV.
Of course even if you don’t buy the Xperia Arc or Neo in France (or buy some other Android smartphone), you still can get Canal+ application from the Android Market free of charge. I assume we’re talking about the same app here and this could be one of those marketing deals struck between Canal+ and the Swedish-Japanese handset maker.
In addition to the two phones mentioned above, Sony Ericsson will also launch its PlayStation-certified Xperia PLAY in France later this month. For some reason it won’t come pre-loaded with the Canal+ app… but it does rock few pre-installed games which is even better. 😉
