WiFi-Only Dell Streak 7 makes an appearance on Amazon

If you’re one of the few people who’d like to grab the Dell Streak 7 and don’t want to sign a two-year contract with T-Mobile, then maybe a WiFi-only version would be best for you. The WiFi-only version of the yet to be announced Dell Streak 7 has made its way to Amazon for the price of $379.

The Streak 7 comes with some great internal hardware, but the display is really what hurts it. The 480 x 800 WVGA display just doesn’t cut it when you’ve got most competitors shipping with much higher resolution displays. That said, the inferior display may not be a make or break thing for some potential buyers and this is likely what keeps the price down. So, what the Streak 7 lacks in specs, it make up for it in price. Then again, if you don’t mind doing some hacking on your tablet, you could grab the ViewSonic G-Tablet for around the same price, if not cheaper.

There’s currently no release date for the tablet, but it is available for pre-order right now. If you’re looking for a cheap Android tablet with decent specs, the Streak 7 is where it’s at. And since this variant of the tablet is identical to the T-Mobile’s offering, (minus the HSPA+ support) we’ll likely see it get someClockwork Recovery love on it soon after it ships.

As the Honeycomb tablets begin to roll out at higher prices, smaller tablets, with a lower version of Android will begin to get cheaper. Much like the Optimus series from LG, users will be able to get an entry-level tablet device at great prices, and while the Dell Streak 7 isn’t the cheapest of the bunch, it could certainly find its way into a couple of pockets.

This is just the beginning for Dell, according to its leaked tablet roadmap spotted a few weeks back. So if the Streak 7 isn’t for you, Dell may have something cooking up that may suit you well.

If you’re already sold on the 7, you can pre-order it here.
