Miso, a social network for TV and movie watchers, now has a Windows Phone 7 app thanks to some developer tools they recently launched. With it, you can check in to shows, share what you’re watching with friends on Twitter and Facebook, find and follow friends with similar tastes, dig in to show information (like cast), as well as mark favourites for future check-ins. In the next update, you can expect to earn badges (like on the official iPhone and Android apps), earn badges for extra check-ins, and recieve push notifications. Speaking of which, the iPhone app was recently updated to include push notifications for when friends check in, a five-star rating system for shows, and an refreshed user interface.
GetGlue is very popular in the TV and movie check-in space, but I’d say that Philo is Miso’s biggest competitor since they’re both exclusive to televsion. Miso has the added benefit of being able to check in to and rate individual episodes. Miso also lets you post Facebook-style links on shows to share relevant web content with the community at large. Of course, all of these third parties will be out of luck as connected TVs have social apps built right into them, but that’s still a ways off, and who knows, maybe these app developers will be able to partner with television manufacturers to create a rich experience with an established community.
In any case, here’s a video of the updated iPhone app, as well as a blurry run-down of the Windows Phone version of Miso. You can download it here in the Marketplace, here in the Android Market, or below in the iPhone App Store.
