HP Veer Goes on Sale at AT&T for $99.99 on Contract

After a decent amount of pre-launch buzz, the white HP Veer is now sale at AT&T for $99.99 with a two-year contract.

The thing is adorably tiny, with a mere 2.6-inch 320 x 240 display, while still packing a resp[ectable 5 megapixel camera, 8 GB of internal storage, 800 MHz processor, 512 MB of RAM, and runs WebOS 2.1. The usual stuff like Wi-Fi b/g/n, GPS, and HSPA 3G are all in there, along with a few extras like mobile hotspot, inductive charging capabilities, and dual microphones for noise cancellation. The webOS software is well-known for its gesture-based user interface, interactivity with the cloud through social networks like Facebook and LinkedIn, and a universal action system called “Just Type”, which lets you launch into apps and searches by typing from the home screen.

With this little number out of the way, HP still has the Pre 3 and the Touchpad tablet to release, which should take us through to the fall. Other than the size, the most striking thing to me about the Veer is that it’s the first instance of the Palm brand being phased out, which, while unfortunate, is one of the harsh realities of getting acquired.

If you’re interested in picking up an HP Veer, you can find it in AT&T’s online store.
