Although it has been acquired by the Japanese social games publisher DeNA, ngmoco kept plans of its own for expansion. The company has acquired its longtime game development partner, Amsterdam, The Netherlands-based Rough Cookie.
The deal is said to bring two-fold benefits to ngmoco – on one hand they will be boosting their presence in Europe, and on the other – get top notch talent to add “creative power” to its internal game studios. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed and all we know is that this was an all-cash transaction.
Rough Cookie developed such popular titles as We Farm and We City for Android, and Star Defense for iOS. In addition to Apple’s and Google’s mobile platforms, the company also makes games for Windows Phone 7.
It is said that Rough Cookie is already working on games that connect to Mobage, which is ngmoco’s social network for mobile games. Unfortunately we don’t know the name of the first social mobile game the studio will produce…
