The Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 for AT&T is now being brought up to speed with Android 2.1 Eclair. Perhaps Xperia X10 owners had resigned themselves to an antiquated version of Android, with hopes of upgrading hardware being the only option if they really wanted a later version of the operating system. It must be exciting news for Xperia X10 owners now that Eclair is on its way.
Sony Ericsson says, “After much hard-work, we are happy to announce that the Android 2.1 upgrade will be available for AT&T XperiaTM X10 customers in the US starting Tuesday, May 31st. We can’t thank you enough for your patience.”
The Xperia X10 can be argued as the first real “super-phone.” It has a 4-inch display, a 1GHz processor and battery life that gets it through the day. It was announced in November of 2009, well before the mega-screen-size phones and 1GHz-plus processors came to market. Unfortunately, it wasn’t until the summer of the following year that it actually hit AT&T.
