Capcom’s Monster Hunter series has always been one that has been hugely popular in Japan that never seemed to take off in the US. We don’t understand why as the game has a ton of gear to equip your characters with, an engaging and rewarding combat system, and a ton of monsters to hunt. Capcom is giving iPhone owners a chance to see what the series is all about as they’ve released the game onto the App Store today.
Monster Hunter: Dynamic Hunting offers a similar experience to the console games as players explore a fantasy world where large monsters are said to roam. The game has a new intuitive control scheme that seems to have a similarity to Epic Games’ Infinity Blade. When engaging a monster, you can attack it by tapping the screen with one finger, block by tapping with two fingers, and to evade, you’ll need to slide two fingers either left or right. If that doesn’t sound similar to Infinity Blade’s control scheme, then call me crazy.
When a monster is defeated, players will unlock materials that can be used to craft more powerful weapons. Monster Hunter: Dynamic Hunting offers nearly 40 different weapons within three categories: one-handed swords, big swords and double swords. You can also team up with a friend via Bluetooth multiplayer if you need some assistance in taking down a monster.
