Sony Ericsson is extending its “brand ambassador” agreement with tennis player Caroline Wozniacki. Denmark’s world number one began the cooperation with the Swedish-Japanese handset maker in 2007 and has now renewed the deal, extending the partnership to 2013.
As part of the plan, Wozniacki will take part in the Sony Ericsson events, and also wear the official Sony Ericsson WTA logo on her tennis clothes. Moreover, the tennis player will be involved in Sony Ericsson’s Xperia Hot Shots, and “borrow” her image for various Sony Ericsson’s advertisements and promotions.
Although Caroline is not as hot as the company’s other ambassador (Maria Sharapova), she is a better tennis player.
Commenting on the agreement, Sony Ericsson’s Stephan Croix (VP and Head of Global Marketing Partnerships) said: “As the established world number one, Caroline embodies all of the characteristics we look for in a brand ambassador – she is active, ambitious, optimistic and always connected. This renewed agreement will help Sony Ericsson reach new audiences and expand awareness of the Xperia smartphone portfolio, through a number of marketing activities, including her growing presence in social media and participation in off court initiatives like the Xperia Hot Shots programme.”
