Sixth generation Apple iPhone to feature wireless charging?

As we get closer and closer to the announcement of the 5th generation iPhone, which some are calling the iPhone 5 while others say it’ll be known as the iPhone 4S, rumors start flying out from the four corners of the web from people claiming to have “inside knowledge” from “sources” who know what the hell they’re talking about. This latest rumor however is a doozy since it isn’t about the iPhone that’s coming out this year, no sir, it’s about the iPhone coming out in 2012. According to The Wall Street Journal the 6th generation iPhone will receive a “major revamp” and that Apple “has been experimenting with features such as a new way of charging the phone”. Reading between the lines, we think that’s another way of saying the next iPhone will get wireless charging. It makes sense when you think about it, Apple could easily release a dock that plugs into the wall and when you place your iPhone on top of it it not only begins filling up the battery with precious electricity, but also tells your PC or Mac to initiate a sync over WiFi.

Is it silly to talk about a device that’s not going to come out for at least another 12 months? Absolutely, but we’re inclined to believe that the 5th generation iPhone will be nothing more than a spec bumped version of the iPhone 4, so that’s why the 6th generation Jesus Phone has our mouths watering. It may be a little bit much to ask for quadcore in the iPhone 6, but at least a jump to the ARM Cortex A15 would be appreciated, as well as a new user interface that makes the home button concept obsolete. After seeing what the Nokia N9 can do, and reading rumors about the Google Nexus Prime, we’d be more than a little upset to see a physical button on the front face of the iPhone 6.
