The Motorola Xprt for Sprint just landed in stores and in our hands, so we thought we’d take a quick look before we hit you with the full review next week. Does this full QWERTY device help you get more things done on the go or is it just a warmed over Droid Pro?
Despite a few tweaks, the Motorola Xprt for Sprint is essentially the Verizon Droid Pro and that’s not a bad thing, as I did dig the device even if it didn’t have top-of-the-line specs. It sports a 3.1-inch display, 1 GHz processor, enhanced corporate tools and a full QWERTY keyboard for your typing pleasure.
The screen on the Motorola Xprt can feel a bit small if you’re coming from a larger device but some compromises have to be made for that keyboard. It’s quite a nice keyboard too, as there are multiple frets to differentiate keys and while it’s not quite to the level of the BlackBerry Bold 9900, it will handle your typing just fine.
The Motorola Xprt is a bit longer and thicker than the Verizon Droid Pro but it still feels good in the hand. There’s some silver trim beneath the keyboard that’s pretty cool and the back matte plastic finish feels nice in the hand. The battery cover is kind of a pain to take off the first time but it’s easy after that.
Inside, you’ll find a 1 GHz processor, WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS a hot-swappable microSD card and a SIM card. That’s right friends, the Motorola Xprt is a world phone that can keep you connected when you’re outside the United States. Tack on a 5-megapixel camera and Android 2.2 (boo) and you have a solid handset for the business folk.
