Daily deals are obviously a big market with companies like Google and Facebook entering the space to fight the incumbent player – Groupon. Nokia doesn’t want to miss the boat too, and will soon launch a similar service, providing its vast user base with location-based deals. Dubbed Nokia Perks, the demo video for the service was caught on Vimeo by ZOMGitsCj, though was later removed. From there we can see that all users had to do is sign-up and wait for the deals to come in. Once you grab a deal, you’ll simply show the barcode at the point of sale, and you’re done. Additionally, Nokia Perks will sing along Ovi Maps, providing you with turn-by-turn directions to the local business offering the discount.
Now you may think Nokia is kinda late to join the game, but they don’t necessarily aim to be number 1 in the U.S. and Western Europe. The Finnish giant has a global footprint and could decide to rule the emerging markets, instead. We’ll see…
