So you’ve got yourself a Google+ invite and now you may want to share some photos from your iOS-based device, whether it’s an iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad. The official Google+ app is still not in the AppStore (at least it wasn’t while I was writing this post), but there’s a workaround method to share your photos with friends on Google’s brand new social network.
In a nutshell – you will be uploading images to your Picasa account.
There are quite a few apps that allow image uploading to Picasa, and for this occasion we’ll show you how to use a free, ad-supported app called Piconhand.
- Once you’ve installed the app, you’ll have to make sure location services are turned on. You can do that from “Settings”, then “Location Services” and then enable the feature for Piconhand.
- Start Piconhand and sign-in with your Google credentials.
- You may want to create a new album where you will be uploading images from your iOS-based device.
- Select “Upload,” pick a Picasa album (the one you just created or an existing one) and tap “Start.”
- Select an image from your library or take a new one.
Repeat the process until all of the images you want to share with your “Circles” are uploaded and head over to Google+. Now edit the album to give access to your friends. You’re done!
As I said we used Piconhand to show you how to upload photos to Picasa, but you can also rely on some other software…
