That $100 discount on the HP TouchPad with webOS last weekend appeared to be quite popular, as HP said those will be permanent.
As you can see on HP’s site, the 16 GB HP TouchPad is now $399 and the 32 GB is now $499. This price drop comes about a month after the device was first released and it may make some of you who picked it up feel a bit angry but this has been HP’s M.O. with its laptops and netbooks for years.
So, it’s always a good thing when devices get cheaper but I have to wonder how this will impact sales of the next TouchPad. I think this strategy may backfire a bit on HP, as those who were already on the fence will just wait a few months for the inevitable price drop.
On the plus side, one of my main beefs with the tablet was that it wasn’t as good as the competition that costs the same. With this price drop and the software updates to fix many issues, the TouchPad is definitely now one of the top tablets out there.
Oh yeah, if you do plan to buy an HP TouchPad, you should check out this list of apps we can’t live without.
