BlackBerry Curve 9360 landing on Bell August 29

A trio of new BlackBerry handsets are on the brink of launching in the U.S., but there’s a few more on the way. The BlackBerry Curve 9360 is one we’ve been hearing about for awhile, and it should be hitting Canada on August 29 care of Bell Mobility, according to some leaked documents.

Compared to the other new phones from RIM, the 9360 is a bit lower-end. From what we’ve seen in leaked roadmaps, it should have an 800 MHz processor with 512 MB of RAM, which might be faster than its 9300 predecessor, but still slower than the new Bold and Torches. The camera should clock in at 5 megapixels and also have HD video recording, plus a magnetic compass will enable augmented reality apps as on all of the other devices. Hopefully this thing launches with NFC, and it’s not blocked by carriers as with the 9900, but I guess only time will tell on that one.

The first U.S. launch for the BlackBerry Curve 9360 is expected to be on September 15 through Verizon for $99.99 on contract. That pricing should give you an idea of what to expect from Bell and the other major Canadian carriers. The little guys like Wind Mobile and Mobilicity haven’t said a thing about launching any OS 7 BlackBerry handsets, though. Maybe they’re waiting on T-Mobile, their big AWS brother to the south, to get theirs out the door first.

I’m curious to see if this lower-end device will sell at that price point, given the higher-end ones aren’t much more expensive.
