You never really wanted an HP TouchPad. Or maybe you did, but it was just too damn expensive, given other options. Well, now the decision has just been made for you. Since HP announced that webOS is pretty much dead and that it will no longer be making any hardware to support the platform, something has to be done about the army of TouchPad tablets floating around. For the 16GB, you can now expect to pay about $99, and for the 32GB TouchPad, you’ll fork over just $149.
HP sent a memo to its partners and affiliates:
HP will be lowering the price of the TouchPad beginning Saturday 8/20/11. This is the lowest price ever for the TouchPad so please post it as soon as it goes live.
16GB TouchPad- $99; 32GB TouchPad – $149
You know what’s an even better deal? Not buying them at all–just saying. Why even spend a dollar on a piece of hardware whose software isn’t going to be updated anymore, and for which new apps will not be created nor updated?
The only reason you’d buy an HP TouchPad now is to own a piece of history–a very brief and disappointing history, but some sad bit of history nonetheless.
