Samsung Admire lands on MetroPCS with Gingerbread in tow – only $130

Samsung isn’t new to mid-range or entry-level devices and the just-released Admire for MetroPCS fits nicely in that crowd. This Android Gingerbread-toting handset isn’t going to blow you away in terms of specs but it’s definitely a welcomed new option to the MetroPCS lineup.

You’ll find the expected WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, microSD card support, and a 3.5 inch HVGA display. which looks to be your standard LCD instead of Sammy’s sexy AMOLED screen tech. Sporting a 800MHz processor, and 3.2 megapixel camera, the Admire lines up nicely to T-Mobile’s Exhibit 4G, give or take a few specs. While Metro offers up a beefier Samsung handset with a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, the Indulge, which supports its LTE network, it’s about $170 more than the Admire and ships with a lower version of the Android OS.

The Admire can be yours for only $129 if you agree to a plan of $50 or more a month, which is a pretty good deal. We doubt we’d be losing sleep over it but the Admire could be right up your alley. It’s definitely nice to see that even Samsung’s entry-level smartphones are beginning to shipping with Android 2.3 these days, and that gives the Admire an edge over MetroPCS’ existing portfolio right now. Of course you’ll have to deal with the TouchWiz UI on the phone, but like we always say, at least it’s not Motoblur.

If you’re on MetroPCS, are in the market for a new smartphone, and couldn’t give a rat’s ass about it’s “LTE” network, then the Samsung Admire just may be what you’re looking for.

Head over to your local MetroPCS or check out the website to get your Samsung Admire now.
