We’ve been talking about Placecast‘s ShopAlerts platform for few times in the past. Now they decided to open it up, allowing retailers to integrate the geofencing technology into their apps. As a result, smart merchants will be able to provide much better experience to their customers, enabling push-based deal alerts that work even when the app itself is closed.
As a customer, you’ll be alerted about relevant nearby deals. Of course, you can always opt-out from the scheme in case you don’t want to be bothered on your whereabouts.
Retailers on their end will get all the help from Placecast, which will assist them in integrating ShopAlerts, helping them to design a program and create a messaging strategy, select the number and size of geofences and activate locations. What’s more, merchants will also be able to leverage preferences expressed by the consumer, CRM, loyalty or past purchase data to increase the relevance of the message. Time of day and weather can also be taken into account to create added relevance.
