You readers on the East Coast are gearing up for one nasty hurricane and we sincerely hope that all of you out there stay safe. T-Mobile is offering some tips on how to use your phone to be prepared, so let’s check them out.
T-Mobile gave these tips out regarding using your phone during the hurricane:
– Use text messaging to communicate instead of voice calls. Text messaging has a greater success rate in getting through the network during high-usage periods.
– Keep your calls short in duration.
– Utilize Wi-Fi calling if your device has the feature. This feature takes advantage of your in-home data connection to place calls in case the cellular network is congested or down.
– Make sure your phone is fully charged prior to the storm. Consider obtaining a vehicle charger in the event of power loss.
The carrier has also been preparing for the hurricane and it’s potential impact on cellular service in the affected areas. It has set up portable backup generators, prepped its transport vehicles, set up microwave radio equipment and even set up some Cells-On-Wheels.
