RingCentral launched a new cloud service called “RingShuffle,” which promises to make stalking tough (or at least more complicated), by providing users (online daters?) with temporary phone numbers that redirect to any mobile phone for free. Launched in beta, the new service is available for the first 10,000 users who register through the iPhone app, Facebook or website.
Of course, it’s not just folks looking for a romance on online dating services that could benefit from RingShuffle; it’s also made for everyone who needs let’s say a week long phone number to do some business and then forget about it. I’ve no doubts the record will stay in the cloud, though (sorry drug dealers).
In its press release, RingCentral suggest we think of their service like the “anonymize” feature on Craigslist.org that conceals your email address. That said, I find their service to be ideal for quick buy-sell (short-lived) transactions. You agree or what?
