Ngmoco acquires Lionside, the company behind sports games for Facebook

Last time we talked about Ngmoco, they were teaming-up with AT&T to bring their Mobage social gaming platform to the U.S. Then before that, they acquired European mobile games developer Rough Cookie. Now Ngmoco is buying another company – Lionside, which is best known for its sports games for Facebook like Lionside Football and NBA Legend.

At the moment of writing this, Lionside’s website was not accessible and the same is true for the company’s Facebook page. Guess they’re spinning the news as we speak.

So what’s next? As far as we can tell, Ngmoco will want to make Lionside’s titles Mobage-ready and will most likely release them as mobile apps for popular platforms like iOS and Android. Ngmoco is super serious about social mobile gaming, and it wants to offer players more than just leaderboards – their platform supports virtual currency. We’ll keep watching this space and let you know as soon as we hear something new.
