While you can access your Twitter account through various apps and through the mobile web, a lot of people still update their accounts via SMS. Twitter is boosting those capabilities by letting users share photos via text messages.
On its blog, Twitter said:
Starting today, you can share photos on Twitter by including a photo in your text message. It’s simple: just enter the text of your Tweet as you normally would, attach a photo to the message and send to Twitter. This feature is currently available with the following carriers*: AT&T, Verizon Wireless and Cellular South in the US; Vodafone, O2 and Orange in the UK; Vodafone Italy; Rogers Communications in Canada; VIVA Bahrain; and, TIM Brazil. We’ll continue to work with more carriers to enable their customers to share photos via text message.
This isn’t the first time Twitter boosted its SMS capabilities, as you can also use text messages for the Fast Follow feature and the company says it’s processing more than 4 billion SMS a month. Oh yeah, feel free to follow @IntoMobile on Twitter.
