Hipmunk app hits Android

I’m a big fan of the Hipmunk service for finding flights and hotels and I’m very happy to see it launch an Android app that offers a similarly beautiful UI as the iOS version but with some added Android-specific features.

If you don’t know Hipmunk, it is a visually-pleasing way to search for flights or hotels and it uses a sorting algorithm which filters results based on “agony.” What is agony? Well, it’s simple things like if you can get a direct flight for $10 more than one that will require you to change planes, then that result will wind up on top. If you’re a masochist and love agony, you can always sort by price and other filters.

The Hipmunk Android app looks very similar to its iOS app and that’s a good thing. It’s simple to look for flights and you book it directly from your phone or you can be given a special link to finish booking on your computer. Because this is Android, you can send your results to other devices via Bluetooth or to services like Dropbox.
